PRODUCTS BY SURFACE

1)ALUMINIUM

All polishing compounds are suitable for aluminium. Depending on the degree of brightness required and cost considerations various compounds may be used alone or in combination with others. Very rough surfaces may have to be linished with a 240 grit belt or finer before the buffing operation. Whether linishing is required is best determined by experiment. The results to be expected from various compounds alone or in combination with others are listed below:

SOLID BAR POLISHES

TRIPOLI used alone on a sisal buff or cotton buff.

POLISHES for HAND USE or HAND HELD POLISHING MACHINES

REFLECTION - universal polish applied by cotton cloth or by portable polishing machine. Excellent for the maintenance of all metal fittings on boats, bull bars on cars and trucks, all metal parts on bikes. The polish will wipe off to a smear free mirror surface. Residues are best removed by wiping, not by washing. *BUY ONLINE*

METALUX -similar to REFLECTION but with more cut. Will also wipe off to a smear free surface. Residues can also be removed by washing. Very popular in the aluminium manufacturing industry, such as bull bars, more cut than Liquid Reflection.

3) FIBREGLASS & POLYESTER

Through prolonged exposure to sunlight the surface of polyester resin loses its sheen and becomes chalky. A simple polishing operation, (either by hand or by polishing buff), will remove the decomposed surface and expose healthy material, effectively restoring a lustrous "new" appearance to the surface.

The polish recommended for this purpose is MARINE SHEEN.

MARINE SHEEN is a wax free polish that works by mechanical action. This produces a more permanent lustre than that created by inferior polishes containing wax. The lustre produced by wax coatings will disappear relatively soon as the wax is weathered away. Then new application of wax will be required.

Our REFLECTION metal polish on boats is suitable for polishing stainless steel fittings. Polish residues will wipe off to a smear free surface using a cotton cloth. MARINE SHEEN on the other hand has more cut and residues are easier removed by washing.

4) LACQUERED SURFACES AND POLYMERS

Lacquered objects such as furniture and musical instruments will show their age through fine scratches and scuffmarks. These blemishes can be removed by polishing. Small objects can be polished on a polishing lathe, equipped with loose fold soft cotton buff of small diameter. The small diameter is recommended to avoid excessive heat that could melt the surface of the lacquer or polymer. A 100 mm diameter buff is the general rule for 2500 revolutions per minute. The polishing compounds recommended for this application are POLAC and BLUE HUBBLE. POLAC is a specific compound for plastic, while BLUE HUBBLE has universal application for precious metals as well as plastics.

For the restoration of large lacquered or plastic coated objects, such as pianos and furniture we recommend SQUEAK. This liquid polish is best applied by a flannel cloth with a circular rubbing motion. When the surface becomes smear-free, indicated by a squeaking sound, the polishing action is completed. The whole procedure may be repeated if scratches remain that have to be removed. An ultra-fine polishing powder is present in this product that will remove scratches without dulling the surface.

5) PLASTIC IMITATION MARBLE

Plastic imitation marble is often the material of construction for kitchen bench tops and bathroom vanity sinks. These materials are very sensitive to scratching by abrasive cleaning agents and general wear. We recommend the use of BUFF THE SCUFF and ZERO SWIRL. BUFF THE SCUFF is the product with higher cutting ability and is suitable for removing deep scratches. ZERO SWIRL contains finer and softer abrasive that puts emphasis on brightness. For ordinary maintenance we recommend ZERO SWIRL applied on a soft cotton cloth on a power assisted lambs wool buff. For the removal of deeper scratches we recommend BUFF THE SCUFF with the use of a cotton buff attached to a power tool.

6) PRECIOUS METAL POLISHES

Five colour-coded polishes are available for the polishing of precious metals. The performance ranges from extreme brightness and low cut to high cut and medium brightness. All five products are very dry or non-greasy, permitting the polisher to observe the progress of his work and minimising the need for cleaning. The polish suitable for all precious metals, including platinum and titanium is BLUE HUBBLE. For more cut our WHITE FINISH, GREEN FINISH and GREY CUTTER may be used. RED ROUGE is suitable for soft metals only, such as gold, silver brass & copper.

Please find a detailed description of the five jewellery polishes below.

Extreme brightness, low rate of metal removal

The polish for extreme brightness is BLUE HUBBLE. To appreciate the brightness please observe its effect on a flat surface and polish with a very soft cotton buff, not contaminated with other polishes. No scratches will be observable. Although of low cut, BLUE HUBBLE performs equally well on hard and soft metals and plastic. For plastic and titanium, use low revolutions or small buff diameter to avoid overheating.
Very bright with more cut

Ferro WHITE FINISH provides more cut and is just as bright as BLUE HUBBLE on curved surfaces. Also suitable on all metals. Apply on a soft cotton buff.
Balanced brightness with strong cut

Ferro GREEN FINISH quickly removes scratches produced by cutting compounds such as Tripoli with acceptable brightness. Suitable for all metals. Use on a soft cotton buff.
Cutting with acceptable brightness

Ferro GREY CUTTER removes surface imperfections without producing deep scratches. Brightness may be acceptable in many cases. To improve brightness, finish off with any of the above finishing compounds. Use on a firm stitched cotton buff. Suitable for all metals.
Very high brightness for soft metals

Ferro RED ROUGE is a finishing compound for soft metals only. With a brightness approaching that of BLUE HUBBLE it is a cheaper alternative for soft metals such as copper, brass, silver and gold. Use on a very soft cotton buff.

TUMBLING CREAM - EXTRA BRIGHT

For the mass finishing of precious metal jewellery articles, ( eg. Wedding rings)

FERRO'S POLISHING CLOTH

To remove tarnish and increase brightness of jewellery we recommend FERRO'S POLISHING CLOTH. This cloth is impregnated with ultra- fine polish. Can be used on gold, platinum, stainless steel, brass, copper and other metals.

7) STAINLESS STEEL AND STEEL

All polishing compounds are suitable for stainless steel, except soft metal polishes such as POLAC, TRIPOLI and RED ROUGE. Depending on the degree of brightness required and cost considerations various compounds may be used alone or in combination with others. Very rough surfaces may have to be linished before the buffing operation, finishing off with a belt of 240 grit or finer. Whether linishing is required is best determined by experiment. The results to be expected from various compounds alone or in combination with others are listed below:

POLISHES for HAND RUBBING or HAND HELD MACHINES

LIQUID REFLECTION polish is applied by hand with a cotton cloth or by portable polishing machine. Excellent for the maintenance of stainless steel fittings on boats, hotels, kitchens trucks, cars and bikes. REFLECTION polish will wipe off to a smear free mirror surface. Residues are best removed by wiping, not by washing.

METALUX Similar to REFLECTION but with more cut. Will also wipe off to a smear free surface. Residues can also be removed by washing. Very popular in the aluminium in the manufacturing industry, such as bull-bar. More cut than LIQUID REFLECTION.
